Banquet Events Server Job Description

This role works closely with the Director of Institute Events and the Special Events Manager at the Office of Advancement and Roderick House events. The successful candidate will assist in executing events for donor cultivation, the Vice President, the community, faculty and staff, and students. These events take various formats, such as receptions, breakfasts, lunches, dinners, conferences, lectures, etc. Responsibilities include helping with setup, food preparation, and cleanup. Other duties involve pouring beverages, serving plated meals, and assisting with check-ins. The Events Director and Manager will require support as needed to ensure each event runs smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with event setup, food preparation, and cleanup
  • Pour beverages and serve plated meals
  • Assist with check-ins and event operations
  • Support the Events Director and Manager as needed
Requirements:
  • Ability to interact comfortably with guests
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift items weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Previous experience in beverage/food service, bartending, and/or working events is preferred
Work Schedule:

This is an on-call position, with events typically held in the evenings, mid-week, and occasional weekends. The successful candidate will be notified via email when an event requires their services. Availability is required to work as little as once during the semester or as many times as there are events.
