Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radio Communications Specialist to join our team at Chesterfield County, VA. As a key member of our public safety team, you will be responsible for installing, servicing, and maintaining mobile two-way radio communications systems, mobile computing hardware, and structured wiring systems in our vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, service, and maintain mobile two-way radio communications systems, mobile computing hardware, and structured wiring systems in Chesterfield County vehicles.
  • Support the county's public safety radio communications by troubleshooting and evaluating installed vehicle radios working on the county's 800MHz trunking system.
  • Perform other project support related to public safety vehicle equipment and communications and information.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in communication-electronics career field or comparable certification or training.
  • Ability to distinguish between various colored wires and operate hand/power tools and electronic test & measurement equipment.
  • Current valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing for prolonged periods, squatting, stooping, bending, twisting, stretching, crawling, reaching overhead, climbing ladders, and working in awkward positions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Mobile Electronics Certified Professional (MECP) Basic Certified Installation Technician completion.
  • Experience in mobile two-way radio communications installations and working with vehicle electrical systems.
