Facilities Manager/Chief Engineer

Job Summary
The Building People is seeking a highly skilled Facilities Manager/Chief Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the management, supervision, and professional development of all building engineering personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage properties as directed by the SPM and property owner, ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
- Function as the professional-in-charge of specific buildings under management, conducting regular inspections and resolving issues.
- Oversee all building systems, including fire/life safety, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical issues, staying current with the latest HVAC technology trends.
- Provide weekly and monthly reports as required, as well as daily checks with staff, approving timecards, vacations, and overtime.
- Screen, hire, supervise, and coordinate training activities for engineering staff.
- Assist with reducing operating expenses while maintaining and enhancing the quality of services provided.
- Assist in generating and executing budgets, as well as generating scope for RFA/RFP.
- Ensure safety guidelines are followed and OSHA compliance is maintained.
- Assist with construction projects by reviewing drawings to ensure standards are followed.
- Vendor contract review and management, as well as monitoring and controlling energy efficiency.
- Assist with generating SOPs and perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements
- At least five years of experience in the management and supervision of building mechanical operations and maintenance for buildings.
- Proven ability to lead a maintenance program for commercial facilities, with experience in using a CMMS.
- Financial knowledge necessary for reading and understanding budgets, budget variances, and basic reporting as required by management.
- Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and its use to monitor and control energy efficiency.
- Basic computing skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Working knowledge of all aspects of building systems and operations, contractual maintenance, construction, and related services, as well as local laws and building codes pertaining to building operations and safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Federal government experience is a plus.
- CMMS experience in Maximo.
Education
Possess a high school degree or an approved GED. A degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering, or Management and/or certified trade experience is preferred but not required.
