Job Summary

Georgia Tech is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing the operation, maintenance, repair, replacement, and location of Mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water, steam, sewers and associated components.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Mechanical engineering and experience in field operations, mechanical utilities and controls. They will also possess excellent technical ability, including expertise in Mechanical systems and troubleshooting, and competence in developing specifications, contract, and contract execution.

The selected candidate will interact on a consistent basis with staff and management, project managers, building managers, building occupants, vendors, contractors, students, and visitors. They will also advise and counsel staff and management, project managers, building managers, building occupants, vendors and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support and assist the Utilities and Power Plant Superintendents in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the Mechanical Utility generating and distribution equipment, building Mechanical systems, and utility locating.
  • Develop and manage replacement and repair projects for mechanical components and systems with in-house and contract services.
  • Maintain a campus 1-year equipment replacement plan. Develop the annual MRR execution plan.
  • Assist area managers to solve issues involving Mechanical systems.
  • Define training needs and provide or coordinate training services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Overnight travel required for project delivery; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client shift schedules, project requirements)
  • Six to eight years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fundamentals Examine (FE) or Engineer-in-training (EIT) certified, Professional Engineers license, or State Trade License in any mechanical field
  • Master's Degree in related field
