Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our PRN Float Pool Tier C team at MedStar Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to patients in our telemetry unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize advanced medical equipment to monitor patients' vital signs and develop treatment plans in collaboration with physicians.
  • Supervise the work of licensed practical nurses and nursing assistants, ensuring the delivery of basic patient care.
  • Function autonomously in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care needs, revising plans as necessary.
  • Respect and support patients' rights, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Administer medication per policy, monitoring effects and patient response, and demonstrating knowledge of medication actions and side effects.
  • Participate in continuing education classes and in-services to maintain certifications and licensure.
  • Contribute to the overall operation of the unit by actively participating in activities such as charge RN duties, preceptorship, committee work, performance improvement, and special projects.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • RN-Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Maryland required.
  • CPR-Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days required.
  • Telemetry course required; ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to comprehend and follow hospital policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English to successfully accomplish the essential duties of the position.
  • Ability to demonstrate ethical behavior, inspire trust, and exhibit honesty and integrity.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate and provide basic health care teachings/instructions for patients and family members.
Work Environment

This position requires the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment, utilizing advanced medical equipment and technology to provide high-quality patient care.

The successful candidate will be able to adjust to peaks in workload, demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, and actively participate in interdepartmental performance improvement.
