Job SummaryThe Patient Care Associate provides basic nursing care to patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role requires effective communication, observation, and recording skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities- Provide personal and restorative care to patients according to predefined guidelines and a plan of care established by a Registered Nurse.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Record observations and activities, and follow oral and written directions/instructions.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Utilize the computer to record and retrieve data, and meet essential job requirements.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of a Nurse Assistant/Aide program preferred.
- Complete and maintain BCLS certification.
- Equivalent related work experience or completion of a Nurse Aide program required.
This role requires physical exertion, including standing, turning, bending, stooping, lifting, climbing, and using many physical motions in performing day-to-day activities. The ability to stand for extended periods and walk without experiencing undue fatigue is also required.
Mental DemandsThe Patient Care Associate must have knowledge of medical terminology, keen mental faculties/assessment and decision-making skills, and communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.
Special DemandsThis role requires the ability to utilize the computer to complete responsibilities, including proficiency in utilizing the electronic medical record.
