Job Overview

The Radiologic Technician operates x-ray and auxiliary equipment to produce diagnostic images while ensuring the maintenance and cleanliness of all equipment used.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for examinations, alleviating any pre-procedure anxiety by explaining the process in understandable terms. Ensure that consent forms are obtained when necessary.
  • Conduct various x-ray examinations following established protocols and departmental procedures. Position patients appropriately for radiographic imaging, utilizing immobilization and support devices as needed. Adjust x-ray equipment settings to achieve optimal exposure while monitoring patient safety and comfort.
  • Process and maintain exposed images, ensuring proper labeling for identification and maintaining accurate records. Utilize film markers to clearly indicate the correct side of the body and ensure images are labeled with the correct date and patient information.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.
Essential Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program is required.
  • Licensure as a Radiologic Technologist from the New York State Department of Health is required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration is required for applicable positions.
