Job Summary

Baton Rouge Machine Works is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team in Baton Rouge. As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for operating CNC lathes and milling machines, setting up machines for operation, and manufacturing custom precision parts for production and large-scale industrial repair work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC lathes and milling machines to manufacture custom precision parts
  • Set up machines for operation and processing
  • Perform manual machining and CNC programming using CadCam software
  • Manufacture custom precision parts for production and large-scale industrial repair work
  • Help coordinate and strategize CNC machine selection for optimized workflow
  • Perform quality control inspection of parts and perform routine maintenance on machinery
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED/HSED, required
  • Journeyman or 2-year technical degree, preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence and communicate effectively with other employees
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as basic math, layout functions, and trigonometry
Work Environment

The work environment is a shop environment or a customer site, both indoors and outdoors. The work is performed in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, and the employee is required to occasionally talk or hear, frequently sit, use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls, and frequently stand and walk.

The employee is also required to climb ladders and stairs, stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch, and lift and/or move physical products up to 50 pounds. The employee may be required to use a respirator and must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

The employee must also be able to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, troubleshoot and solve problems using critical thinking skills, and follow through on projects from conception to completion.
