Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Forklift Operator is responsible for maneuvering forklifts to efficiently load and unload shipping containers. This role also involves maintaining a safe and organized work environment at the designated storage facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate forklifts to facilitate the loading and unloading of containers from delivery vehicles and manage inventory logistics.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures by preparing routes and managing additional tasks as assigned.
  • Familiarize oneself with the routing system to support the Market Manager in effective route planning.
  • Ensure that all containers staged outside during operational hours are returned to the warehouse at the end of the day.
  • Maintain the PODHUNTER system for tracking purposes.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the forklift, fuel it as necessary, and keep maintenance records; report any repair needs to management.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe working environment within the facility.
  • Print and time-stamp all waybills, and may involve scanning and uploading relevant documents.
  • Repair damaged containers when required.
  • Maintain communication with drivers to assist them in their daily operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position typically reports to a Market Manager or Territory Manager.
  • Does not have direct supervisory responsibilities over other employees.

QUALIFICATIONS: Skills and Abilities

QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a storage or warehouse environment is preferred.
  • Previous experience operating forklifts is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain Forklift Driver Certification.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, are necessary.
  • Mathematical skills sufficient to perform job-related tasks are required.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, or experience will be considered.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and varying weather conditions.
  • Noise levels may be elevated at times, and the role may involve working at heights.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential for this position.
  • Subject to pre-employment background checks and random drug screenings as per company policy.
