We are seeking a skilled and compassionate veterinary technician to join our Radiation Oncology team at the University of Florida. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the advancement of cancer treatment in animals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with daily intake and discharge of oncology cases, ensuring seamless patient flow and efficient use of resources.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient evaluations, rechecks, and treatment plans.
  • Perform general nursing care, including venipuncture, catheter placement, patient restraint, treatments, medication administration, and sample collection.
  • Deliver radiation treatments with precision and accuracy, ensuring the highest level of patient safety and comfort.
  • Warm-up and troubleshoot LinAc equipment to maintain optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Assist with radiation planning CTs, utilizing advanced technology to enhance patient outcomes.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience (Veterinary Technician I) or credential veterinary technician (Veterinary Technician II).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with a focus on patient safety and well-being.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs, bend, kneel, pull, push, twist, and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited American Veterinary Medical Association program for veterinary technology or credentialed veterinary technician.
