Hours: Part-time (24 hours per week), Night Shift from 7 PM to 7 AM, with every third weekend and holiday required.

Role Summary
The Clinical Nurse 2 is a registered nurse who actively engages as a full partner within the healthcare team, consistently demonstrating safe and effective nursing practices as per the standards set by the American Nurses Association.
This role requires the Clinical Nurse 2 to possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and professional demeanor to meet the standards for competent nursing practice.
The Clinical Nurse 2 independently delivers patient care by applying the nursing process and assumes accountability for the care of assigned patients, who may range from infants to the elderly.
The Clinical Nurse 2 exemplifies the core values of Penn Medicine, reflecting our mission through various competency domains, including Continuous Quality Improvement, Evidence-Based Practice, Leadership, and Teamwork.
Collaboration with the interprofessional healthcare team is essential to ensure coordinated care across the continuum.
In this role, the nurse will focus on enhancing their knowledge and skills to provide individualized care that considers the physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of patients.
The Clinical Nurse 2 is encouraged to seek feedback and take on leadership responsibilities while contributing to improved clinical practices.
Key Responsibilities
Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following essential functions:
- Integrate the mission, vision, and values of Lancaster General Health into patient care planning.
- Function as both an independent and interdependent member of the healthcare team, as defined in the unit-based Plan for Provision of Care.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive functions.
- Evaluate patient progress and adapt care plans based on observed trends and changes.
- Collect and manage comprehensive health data relevant to the patient's condition.
- Analyze assessment data to identify diagnoses or issues and formulate culturally sensitive care plans.
- Implement care knowledgeably and coordinate across various disciplines and caregivers.
- Provide leadership by effectively communicating care standards and supporting team members.
- Demonstrate commitment to privacy, quality, respect, service, and teamwork.
- Delegate and supervise tasks among team members to ensure continuity of care and achievement of established outcomes.
- Educate patients on healthy practices and treatment options.
- Continuously enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices, utilizing technology as appropriate.
Additional Responsibilities
The following duties are considered secondary to the primary responsibilities:
- Manage rapidly changing situations by following established protocols and coordinating with appropriate health team members.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing continuity in nurse-patient relationships and minimizing redundancies.
- Complete mandatory education and training, including age-specific needs and interpersonal skills.
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to evidence-based practice policies and reporting safety variances.
- Engage in professional development through formal and independent learning activities.
- Provide supervision and mentorship to peers and subordinates to enhance the professional practice environment.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Current RN licensure issued by the PA Board of Nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher nursing degree.
- Completion of a Nurse Residency Program or over 15 months of nursing practice.
- CPR Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required within 30 days of hire.
- ACLS Certification.
- Good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
As outlined in the unit-based Plan for Provision of Care.
