Position Summary:
As a Personal Support Specialist, you will provide essential assistance to individuals in their residences and communities who require help with daily living activities due to age, illness, disability, or other conditions. Your role will encompass a variety of services aimed at enhancing the quality of life for clients, ensuring they receive care in a compassionate and dignified manner, while adhering to local policies and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing;
- Assisting with feeding and medication reminders;
- Ensuring a safe living environment through supervision;
- Facilitating meal preparation and light housekeeping duties;
- Providing companionship and engaging in meaningful conversations;
- Offering respite care to families as outlined in care plans;
- Conducting errands and shopping as needed, while managing client funds responsibly;
- Helping clients adhere to dietary plans as directed by healthcare professionals;
- Accompanying clients to medical appointments and community outings;
- Assisting with communication needs, including correspondence and information research;
- Collaborating with the Care Team to enhance service delivery;
- Monitoring supplies and ensuring compliance with care plans;
- Documenting daily activities and observations accurately;
- Participating in training and staff meetings to improve service quality;
- Building positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
