Key Responsibilities- Provide on-site ASL interpretation services to students in classrooms, school activities, and related events.
- Facilitate effective communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and hearing individuals, including teachers, administrators, and fellow students.
- Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa, maintaining accuracy and clarity of the intended message.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure the inclusion and accessibility of students with hearing impairments.
- Adapt interpreting techniques and strategies to meet the unique needs of individual students.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
- Proficient fluency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Possession of appropriate certification as an ASL Interpreter (e.g., RID certification, NIC certification).
- Experience working as an ASL Interpreter in an educational setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of deaf culture and the challenges faced by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and situations.
- Punctuality, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
