Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic

Take the next step in your automotive repair career by becoming a skilled Heavy Diesel Technician at Hendrickson Fire Rescue Equipment. Our Islandia, NY team needs a results-driven individual who can diagnose complex issues and perform quality repairs on heavy-duty vehicles.
As a Heavy Diesel Technician, you will work Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with occasional overtime. Your responsibilities will include inspecting vehicles, diagnosing problems, and performing repairs and maintenance services on hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems. You will collaborate with fellow technicians and other teams to ensure quality and client satisfaction.
We offer a competitive salary range of $55,000 - $115,000/year, plus bonuses and commissions. Our benefits package includes PTO, health, dental, life, and vision insurance, short- and long-term disability, HSA/FSA, a 401(k) with match, and more.
Requirements- 3+ years of automotive repair or heavy-duty truck service experience
- A/C certification (CFC-12/HFC-134a) OR ability to obtain one within one year of hire
- Mechanical understanding of diesel engines and basic knowledge of work order labor time standards
- Ability to use Microsoft Office programs and engine and transmission diagnostic software
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment
- Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, safely operate a variety of machinery and equipment, and perform required physical tasks
- Adaptability, trustworthiness, willingness to take ownership, and a high drive to succeed
- ASE and EVT certifications
- 10+ years of automotive repair experience
- OEM training
- Mechanical knowledge or technical experience
