Position Overview:
A proficient Fiber Optic Technician will oversee the meticulous preparation and splicing of fiber optic cables within a telecommunications framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute both low-level and high-level labor-intensive tasks, alongside operating designated construction machinery.
- Complete daily production reports to accurately document work activities.
- Utilize hand tools, ladders, and equipment to facilitate the successful completion of assigned projects.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of supplies, tools, equipment, and workspaces to ensure adherence to safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
- Skilled in the operation of hand tools and equipment such as wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, and saws.
- Proficient in using telecommunications construction equipment including splicers, OTDRs, aerial lifts, and meters.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and successfully complete pre-employment screenings.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
To qualify for this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to climb and work at heights using ladders or aerial lifts, remain seated or standing for extended periods, and work independently in confined or enclosed spaces. The role involves:
- Working indoors within a splicing trailer and outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and precipitation.
- Navigating rugged terrains, such as back easements and active construction sites.
- Lifting and maneuvering equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with exposure to moderate to loud noise levels.
