Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Trainer to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. As a Maintenance Trainer, you will design and present Maintenance Certification Training, research and develop classes on vehicle technology, and maintain instructor manuals and testing materials.

Responsibilities
  • Design and present Maintenance Certification Training programs
  • Research and develop classes on vehicle technology, including theory and practical application of new and existing vehicles, components, and systems
  • Maintain instructor manuals, create handouts, and develop testing materials for class presentations
  • Coordinate vehicle technology training classes, ensuring class size and session times permit attendance of all affected personnel
  • Provide consultation with agency personnel on design for modification to factory-provided equipment, troubleshoot technological issues, and answer questions on current technology
  • Administer and track the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) program and Apprentice Mechanic Program
  • Develop lesson material and implement effective class sessions, train mechanics on vehicle diagnosis, repair, and overhaul, and analyze situations and provide recommendations
  • Track and review technician progression
Requirements
  • College degree preferred, but a combination of education and work experience may be considered
  • 10 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of automotive and transit equipment or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and alternate fuel engines and/or internal combustion engines, automatic transmissions, airbrakes, steering, and drivelines
  • Experience and understanding of modern zero-emission vehicles, such as Battery Electric and Hydrogen technology
  • Possess an understanding of the theory of electricity and be able to read and understand wiring diagrams
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to work with Word and Excel
  • Able to obtain ASE Master certifications required
  • Prior experience with computerized diagnostic equipment
  • Must be able to pass a physical examination and a drug test
  • Must be able to work flexible hours
  • Must complete and sign the Transdev employment application in its entirety
