Nursing Responsibilities

As a medical professional, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, and delivering comprehensive healthcare to patients by providing the following:

  • Administering medications
  • Performing medical intakes and assessing if patients are fit for incarceration, as needed
  • Responding to sick call requests and following up with the medical provider when needed
  • Checking and/or changing medical dressings as required by the medical provider
  • Performing 14-day physicals
  • Managing chronic care
  • Providing patient education on health concerns
  • Responding to medical emergencies

You will be capable of performing life-saving measures and taking charge and giving direction in an emergency. You will also maintain a working knowledge of pharmacology, including drug reactions/overdoses, formulary/non-formulary medications, and knowledge of medication costs. Additionally, you will be able to provide insight and direction to medically trained personnel, as needed.

Compliance with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations is expected.

Requirements
  • Valid LPN or RN licensure
  • Valid CPR certification

  • Ability to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently
