Job Summary

The Production Management Trainee is a key role within UFP Industries, responsible for developing a comprehensive knowledge of plant operations and manufacturing processes. This position works under the close direction of an assigned mentor and exercises little discretion and judgment on work priority on a regular basis, with a small degree of creativity expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops a thorough understanding of UFP Industries' products and procedures through on-the-job training activities.
  • Acquires knowledge of panel and lumber grades, including their characteristics and applications.
  • Learns how to operate the company's business system to perform required administrative functions.
  • Develops a detailed understanding of product costing, including material and labor costs.
  • Assists in the production scheduling process, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Develops working knowledge of the budget and expense control process, ensuring financial accuracy.
  • Supervises activities consistent with all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Develops working knowledge of Continuous Improvement, efficiency standards, and safety protocols.
  • Develops a detailed understanding of operations by touring other UFP Industries facilities and customer locations.
  • Completes courses and assignments as directed by management.
  • Prepares various reports as required to support business decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Excel spreadsheets is required.
