About the Role

UnityPoint Health is seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our Imaging Services team in the Mammography department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing high-quality mammography exams, providing exceptional patient care, and contributing to a positive and supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care
    • Greets patients and healthcare providers with a pleasant and professional manner, adapting to various situations according to patient age and needs.
    • Performs procedural exams within specified turnaround times, documenting patient history and necessary information.
    • Consistently demonstrates attention to detail, following protocol for patient history, imaging exams, and patient identification.
    • Presents breast and bone cases for diagnostic clinic per radiologist guidelines.
    • Moves patients and imaging equipment into specified positions, determining exposure factors and adjusting equipment controls.
    • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
    • Completes mammogram callbacks, secures retrieval of prior studies, and schedules orders in a prompt and consistent manner.
  • Non-Direct Patient Care
    • Provides guidance to team members on handling complex or novel issues.
    • Prepares for state inspections and other accrediting bodies, monitoring personal technical performance and analyzing technical and operational problems.
    • Oversees equipment quality control testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
    • Helps mentor and train new staff as applicable.
    • Completes work in RIS and PACS, proficient in EPIC and MRS systems.
    • Evaluates mammographic images for technical quality, orders supplies, and attends monthly staff meetings.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology and ARRT certified.
  • 1-2 years of clinical experience.
  • Certification in radiology through The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and current permit through the Iowa Department of Public Health.
  • Current validation of CPR and AED training.
  • Fluent English language skills, multicultural sensitivity, and basic computer skills.
  • Customer-focused, critical thinking skills, and cooperative working performance.
