Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Neonatology Physician to provide exceptional care in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This role involves a variety of responsibilities that ensure the health and well-being of our most vulnerable patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct rounds on all infants in the NICU.
  • Participate in high-risk deliveries, typically covering 67 shifts per month.
  • Provide backup support to the Pediatric Hospitalist as needed.
  • Attend the High Risk Follow-up Clinic once a month for a half-day session.
  • Engage in Medical Staff Meetings, including General, Pediatric, and Perinatal Morbidity & Mortality discussions.
  • Serve on Medical Staff Committees as required, usually one committee.
  • Cover 10 shifts annually at a secondary facility.
Position Details:
  • Work in a Level 3, 16-bed NICU.
  • Manage all high-risk deliveries, with shared responsibilities for deliveries over 35 weeks gestation.
  • Experience approximately 170 admissions to the NICU each year.
  • Maintain an average daily census of around 78 patients.
  • Provide care for infants greater than 28 weeks gestation, including short-term conventional ventilation and BCPAP.
  • Dedicate approximately 78 hours per week to NICU care, with 4-6 hours allocated for rounds and the remainder for attending deliveries.
  • Day shifts are from 7 AM to 5 PM, with night shifts from 5 PM to 7 AM the following day.
  • On-call duties are performed from home, with expectations to be called in for deliveries once or twice during each on-call period.
  • Cover 24 weekends and share major holiday responsibilities.
Community and Environment:

This position is located in a vibrant region, offering convenient access to major highways and proximity to scenic areas.

Qualifications:
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Neonatology.
  • Completion of NRP instructor course and proficiency in all NRP procedures, including intubation and UVC placement.
  • Familiarity with core procedures such as ETT, UAC, UVC, LP, chest tube placement, and circumcision.
