Position Overview:

The Electrical Power Systems Engineer will be instrumental in the design and support of electrical power facilities, including substations and transmission projects. This role requires a strong focus on both low and high voltage systems, ensuring that all components function effectively within the overall project framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop innovative designs and provide expert consultation for substation and transmission projects.
  • Oversee the management of in-house teams and external engineering consultants to ensure project objectives are met efficiently.
  • Collaborate with Project and Construction Management teams to guarantee that designs are practical and align with project timelines.
  • Lead the electrical design process, including the creation of material specifications and the review of vendor submissions.
  • Utilize software tools such as ETAP or SKM Power Tools for system modeling and analysis.
  • Provide training and support to various personnel within the organization.
  • Interface with multiple internal groups to develop optimal design solutions, including power system planning and project management.

Technical Expertise:

  • Proficient in creating single line, three line schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledgeable in the sizing and application of conductors, both insulated and bare.
  • Experienced in the design of ground grids, civil structures, and raceway systems.
  • Familiar with control systems, protection components, and communication assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of relevant codes and standards, including NEC, NESC, IEEE, and NFPA.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in power system design.
  • Completion of the PE exam and registration in Texas is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and various engineering software.
  • Demonstrated experience in power system studies and analysis.
