West Tennessee Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Education Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our clinical education team, you will be responsible for coordinating and conducting orientation and ongoing education programs for personnel providing direct patient care.
Under the general supervision of the Director of Clinical Education, you will facilitate and enhance clinical practice and professional development for assigned nursing personnel. Your expertise will be utilized to evaluate the needs of various health professionals and implement the best practices and/or programs to meet the healthcare staff needs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement education/training programs for professional and non-professional staff that directly impact patient care.
- Implement the general nursing orientation program as related to clinical practice.
- Instruct the proper segregation and safe disposal of hazardous pharmaceutical waste.
- Represent the hospital in community and professional development activities.
- Assume responsibility for own professional development by attending education programs and participating in other activities that enhance the practice of Nursing and Education.
Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate of science degree in nursing required.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse as approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing for practice in the state of Tennessee.
- Obtains AHA BLS instructor status within 6 months of clinical education employment.
- Obtains AHA instructor status in at least one of the following within 1 year of clinical education employment.
Experience:
- Current skills in nursing practice and trends in an assigned specialty area.
- Knowledge of legal guidelines as normally acquired in 3 years of nursing experience, including two years in a specialty area preferred.
