About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemical Manufacturing Operator to join our team at Materion. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating limited departmental equipment to perform bulk material processing, standard chemical preparations, and a limited number of drying/kiln type furnace operations according to production orders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate equipment to achieve necessary reactions and results, including tube furnaces, vacuum ovens, distillation equipment, and fine glassware.
  • Sample products and submit for analytical tests using the computer system.
  • Filter material using gravity or suction methods and dry final products to appropriate consistency.
  • Perform precipitation reactions in aqueous solutions.
  • Accurately complete labor data entry along with material goods issuing and receipting into the ERP system.
  • Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures, and comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
  • Process air-sensitive products using milling, pressing, and packaging equipment in sealed enclosures.
  • Handle compressed gas cylinders and gas regulators.
  • Use equipment to test product packaging.
Requirements
  • Minimum 1 year experience in an industrial setting is required.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • An education generally equivalent to an Associate's degree in chemistry from a two-year college or technical school or a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Physics (or other related hard science) is acceptable in lieu of work experience.
  • Requires the use of safety glasses, safety shoes, a respirator, and protective clothing such as a uniform or lab coat. Other, more specialized protective gear may be required occasionally.
