Role Summary:

We are looking for a skilled cyber security professional to join our Purple Team within the Cyber Threat Hunt, Intelligence, and Defense division. As a member of the Purple Team, you will play a crucial role in the assessment, development, testing, and execution of security initiatives across a vast and intricate environment. Your responsibilities will also include supporting vulnerability research and participating in high-stakes incident response activities. Successful candidates will leverage their hands-on experience in both offensive and defensive security roles to enhance cyber security measures throughout the organization.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a technical capacity within Security Operations, Threat Intelligence, Penetration Testing, Red Teaming, Purple Teaming, Threat Hunting, or Incident Response.
  • In-depth knowledge of system internals and security protocols related to the Windows Operating System and Active Directory.
  • Experience with Windows security logging in contexts such as forensic analysis, threat hunting, incident response investigations, or red team operational security research.
  • Ability to query log sources within extensive centralized logging platforms, such as Splunk, Elastic, Cloudera, or SQL.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, including the functionality of firewalls, load balancers, and proxies in a large enterprise network.
  • Familiarity with system and network telemetry generated by Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools.
  • Knowledge of Application Allowlisting and Application Control principles.
  • Ability to analyze how threat actors gain access, move laterally, escalate privileges, establish persistence, and evade defenses to achieve their objectives.
  • Capacity to critically assess an organization's systems from a threat actor's perspective and communicate risks clearly and effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey technical and risk-related information to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience executing red team or penetration testing operations.
  • Hands-on proficiency with offensive security tools such as Metasploit, Burp, Cobalt Strike, Covenant, Sliver, etc.
  • Interest in exploring security functions related to critical banking systems and technologies.
  • Experience with large-scale data analysis.
  • Familiarity with the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
  • Relevant certifications in areas of passion.

Key Responsibilities:

This position involves evaluating the bank's technologies, applications, and overall security controls to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities affecting information security. Key tasks include:

  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of Bank of America's Global Information Security policies and relevant cyber security threats to conduct thorough security assessments.
  • Building technical expertise to support partners and adapting testing methodologies to align with emerging cyber security regulations and evolving threats.
