Job Summary:
The Department of First-Year and University Programs at California State University San Marcos invites applications for a pool of part-time lecturers to teach first-year seminars, academic resiliency and recovery courses, and second-year seminars. The successful candidate will have experience working directly with students and a demonstrated ability to facilitate their transition to the academic and social demands of college.
Responsibilities:
- Teach 3-unit first-year seminars, 1-unit and 3-unit academic resiliency and recovery courses, and 1-unit second-year seminars
- Support students in their transition to the academic and social demands of college
- Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with the university's general education requirements
- Assess student learning and provide feedback
- Participate in departmental and university-wide initiatives to improve student success
Requirements:
- Masters degree in education, teaching and learning, instruction and curriculum development, or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds
- Experience teaching college-level courses
- Understanding of CSU undergraduate general education requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in education, teaching and learning, instruction and curriculum development, or a related field
- Previous experience teaching first-year seminars or academic resiliency and recovery courses
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and intercultural competence
Salary and Benefits:
Salary commensurate with degree level and experience. The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:
- CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer A - AY: $5,007 - $6,359 per full-time month
- CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer B - AY: $5,925 - $12,594 per full-time month
