Job Title: Director of Nursing

At Whitehall SNF, LLC, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Nursing to lead our nursing department. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, and operating the nursing department to ensure that our residents receive high-quality care 24/7.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, direct, and supervise the activities of the nursing staff to ensure that our residents receive the best possible care.
  • Ensure that the nursing department is compliant with federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS Federal Regulations and LARA Regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and update department policies and procedures as needed.
  • Provide consistent and sufficient staffing for our residents' needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in federal, state, and local agency annual surveys and address any deficiencies noted.
  • Review and address any deficiencies noted by government agencies during inspections.
  • Operate the nursing department within budgetary guidelines and limitations.
  • Complete annual performance reviews of subordinate staff and provide guidance and education to improve performance.
  • Provide counseling and disciplinary action to subordinate staff members as needed.
  • Train and educate staff members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care.
  • Ensure that established infection control and standard precaution practices are maintained at all times.
  • Report any hazardous conditions, damaged equipment, or supply issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain the comfort, privacy, and dignity of our residents and interact with them in a manner that displays warmth, respect, and promotes a caring environment.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to call lights when working in residents' care areas.
  • Assist with new admissions, re-admissions, and transfers of residents to different rooms within the facility.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and tactfully with residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-services as requested and participate in continuing education programs to maintain professional certification or licensure.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and protect confidential information by only providing it on a 'need-to-know' basis.
  • Understand and follow infection control guidelines, including hand washing principles, isolation and standard precautions, and recognizing signs and symptoms of infection.
  • Promote and protect residents' rights by assisting them to make informed decisions, treating them with dignity and respect, and protecting their personal belongings.
Requirements:
  • Must possess a current Michigan license as a Registered Nurse and have graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • Two years of professional nursing experience in the long-term care setting is required, and a minimum of three years' experience in nursing administration or a comparable management position is preferred.
  • Three years' experience as a DON or similar role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of CMS Federal Regulations and LARA Regulations is required.
  • Must possess and demonstrate a high degree of leadership, organizational ability, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of long-term care management, policies, budgeting, personnel management, and census development is required.
