Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at Miami Jewish Health. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will provide direct patient care, meeting the physical and psychological needs of our residents and patients in accordance with their care plan, regulatory agency, and departmental guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care for assigned patients/residents per established department guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Handle admissions, discharges, and transfers of assigned residents/patients.
  • Share responsibility for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care plans and nursing care.
  • Perform documentation according to established standards and procedures.
  • Prepare, administer, and record medications in accordance with policy.
  • Receive, transcribe, and carry out physicians' orders.
  • Oversee and assist with meal service.
  • Oversee, assist, and guide the work of Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
  • Provide coaching to CNAs and participate in the annual performance appraisal process.
  • Assist in the orientation of new personnel when requested.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
  • Experience in a long-term care/skilled nursing facility environment preferred.
  • Current LPN license by the Florida State Board of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification.
  • IV Certification preferred.
Abilities and Qualifications
  • Knowledge of long-term care/skilled nursing facility environment.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Self-directing, able to work with little direct supervision.
Work Environment
  • Normal working condition with adequate lighting and ventilation.
  • Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, bio-hazardous waste, flammable, explosive gas.
  • Ability to stand or walk 90% of the day.
  • Ability to bend and stoop frequently.
  • Ability to do frequent lifting and turning of patients/residents per department's policies and procedures.
