Position Overview
This role involves mastering the comprehensive operations of a retail establishment under the mentorship of a Store Manager or District Manager. You will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills in financial operations essential for managing a retail outlet.
With guidance from supervisors, you will achieve full competency in managerial duties within a designated timeframe. You should be prepared to assume Store Manager responsibilities within the local area if the opportunity arises.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Delivers an outstanding customer service experience across all interaction channels by adhering to GNC's established selling techniques; strives to meet or surpass all corporate goals and performance metrics.
- Promotes GNC's loyalty initiatives and incentives to enhance customer engagement.
- Tracks top-selling products, recognizes market demand, and informs the Store Manager about emerging trends.
- Encourages community involvement and customer loyalty through innovative outreach efforts.
- Reviews merchandising communications to understand product offerings and address inquiries based on company-approved information.
- Leads and supervises the store team under the Store Manager's direction; communicates sales objectives and motivates team performance; provides constructive feedback and supports the development of high-performing individuals.
- Completes all training resources and assigned modules to gain insights into product offerings and respond to product inquiries using company-approved information.
- Ensures the protection of company assets and mitigates risks and conflicts of interest.
- Collaborates with the Store Manager to resolve escalated customer service issues; assists in monitoring loss prevention efforts and escalates concerns as necessary.
- Maintains a clean and organized store environment.
- Handles all register operations, including daily register functions and bank deposits in accordance with company policies.
- Lead staffing and training initiatives effectively.
- Manage work schedules within budgetary constraints for optimal store coverage.
- Recruit, train, and manage employee performance.
- Implement visual merchandising standards accurately and promptly, ensuring compliance with GNC's presentation guidelines.
- Oversee store inventory in line with GNC protocols: receive, verify, and shelve merchandise orders to enhance the customer experience, including online order fulfillment.
- Adhere to GNC's quality control standards for stock management, including regular product inspections and addressing expiration dates.
- Ensure compliance with all operational policies and execute omni-channel initiatives effectively.
- Independently perform complex tasks related to people management, store operations, inventory control, merchandising, and sales training.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Responsible for overseeing a team of employees.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands or fingers, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and communicate effectively.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in business or a related field is preferred.
- 2+ years of retail sales experience with prior management or supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, Outlook, and internet applications.
- Strong analytical, prioritization, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management, and planning skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to foster collaborative relationships with peers and clients.
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to influence subordinates, peers, and senior management.
- Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail and a strong sense of urgency.
- Basic mathematical skills and the ability to interpret data.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
