Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Assess students' skills to determine their needs and develop appropriate teaching plans.
  • Adapt and modify the general education curriculum to accommodate students with disabilities.
  • Use a variety of teaching techniques and strategies to support student learning and development.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, school staff, and parents to create an inclusive educational environment.
  • Provide direct instruction to students in small groups or one-on-one settings.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of students, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress, assessments, and IEPs.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in Special Education.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other relevant state and federal regulations.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with students with a variety of disabilities and learning needs is preferred.

Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher in a school setting is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with different types of disabilities and special education programs.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective teaching strategies to support diverse learners.
