Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Manager Lead to join our team at Truist. As a key member of our Wholesale CRE portfolio management team, you will be responsible for leading a team of Portfolio Managers, Associates, and Analysts in providing underwriting, ongoing credit servicing, and portfolio management activities for assigned Sub-LOB teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of Portfolio Managers, Associates, and Analysts to ensure sound risk management and compliance with Bank policies for credit, underwriting, operational, regulatory, tax, and legal procedures.
  • Implement and execute strategies to support financial performance metrics and tactical plans for the business by ensuring thorough analysis from Underwriting and diligent management of ongoing Portfolio Servicing.
  • Develop a culture for early identification of emerging credit problems and industry trends.
  • Manage, coach, and develop the team to ensure industry-leading portfolio management practices.
  • Oversee portfolio administration efforts within tolerances established within Operational Excellence standards.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of various real estate markets, including access to brokers, developers, and appraisers.
  • Understand capital markets for real estate, including debt, equity, and mezzanine financing.
  • Understand risk elements inherent in a real estate project, including environmental risk, construction risk, market risk, tenant risk, and product-specific risk.
  • Approve annual reviews, risk ratings, and renewals within authority levels.
  • Ensure the commercial credit process operates at optimal efficiency by tracking and inspecting the process and response times.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field, with specific knowledge and experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in underwriting, portfolio administration, or commercial loan credit decision-making.
  • 8+ years of demonstrated financial services experience with Commercial banking/Commercial Real Estate and credit products or commercial portfolio management.
  • Strong managerial/leadership experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities under time constraints.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Accounting, Real Estate Finance, or related field.
  • 2+ years of team management experience.
  • Previous Sales or sales management experience.
