Key Responsibilities- Provide patient care under the direction and supervision of the physician or Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in an ambulatory care setting.
- Support and demonstrate effective and professional communication with patients and family members.
- Work collaboratively with the administrative and operations staff to ensure seamless patient care.
- Gather patient data through interview and observation, and assist patients and families with preparation for examination.
- Assist the physician or APP during examination and procedures, and demonstrate competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by the practice.
- Document treatments, procedures, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department-specific policies.
- Assist the physician or APP by acting as a liaison on behalf of the patient to schedule, provide patient with scheduling information to obtain specialty testing, and/or specialty physician consultation.
- Process incoming and outgoing calls in an independent and professional manner using sound clinical judgment.
- Enter medication, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging orders into the electronic medical system under direction of a provider.
- Adhere to and assure compliance with Orlando Health and department-specific policy, procedures, value statements, and Commitment to Excellent standards.
- Consistently demonstrate personal and patient safety practices and adherence to infection control standards outlined in Orlando Health policies.
- Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or verifiable applicable work experience in a patient care setting) required.
- Maintains current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
- One of the following certifications: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
