The role of the Electric Motor Test Engineer involves the assessment of motor performance and efficiency utilizing advanced motor and vehicle chassis dynamometers integrated with cutting-edge power analysis tools.
Key Responsibilities:- Facilitate motor analysis and inverter calibration by designing and executing motor and vehicle dynamometer tests.
- Ensure test plans are validated, tests are conducted accurately, and data integrity is maintained.
- Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot instrumentation within the testing environment.
- Collaborate with test requestors and technicians to prioritize and schedule testing activities.
- Provide mentorship to technical associates, ensuring their dynamometer work aligns with Tula's quality standards.
- Enhance Tula's internal testing and calibration capabilities.
- Engage external vendors and contractors as necessary.
- Contribute innovative ideas and assist in the development of project plans.
- Establish yourself as the subject matter expert in dynamometer testing.
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
- Proficient in experimental design methodologies.
- Experience with at least three of the following tools: Matlab/Simulink, Labview/Veristand, CAS, INCA, Canalyzer, Canape, dSPACE/Control Desk, and power analysis equipment such as HBK Genesis/Perception.
- Solid understanding of electric motors and testing methodologies applicable to road vehicles.
- Familiarity with motor and vehicle testing apparatus, including dynamometers and data acquisition systems.
- Ability to meticulously validate test plans, execute dynamometer operations, and ensure high-quality data generation.
- Knowledge of calibration structures for motor control modules in modern electric machines.
- Capability to set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot sophisticated measurement instruments.
- Demonstrated system-level thinking and management skills.
- Strong critical thinking abilities and adeptness at managing multiple systems to achieve valid test outcomes.
- Experience in root cause analysis and resolution methodologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence technical direction.
- Proven teamwork and project management capabilities.
- Involvement in the construction or refurbishment of dynamometer cells.
- Ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.
- Experience in the analysis and development of automotive motors and components.
- Familiarity with analytical tools such as motor FEA and vehicle simulation.
- Understanding of the principles of modern motor control.
