Position Overview

Under direct supervision, this role involves assisting departmental professionals and technical staff by executing a variety of support functions and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a liaison with community members, ensuring that professional staff are updated on current community dynamics;
  • Acquire knowledge of departmental programs and community resources to inform residents about available services;
  • Schedule appointments and maintain simple records;
  • Collect data and prepare concise reports;
  • Coordinate transportation for residents receiving departmental services;
  • Provide interpretation services for non-English speaking residents when necessary;
  • Participate in relevant staff and training meetings;
  • Offer assistance and support to community residents and professional staff in various settings;
  • Engage with clients to provide counseling regarding personal issues and available community resources;
  • Collaborate with professional staff to assess client needs;
  • Identify clients in the community who require departmental services;
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Possession of a valid California Driver's license prior to appointment, with the ability to qualify for a County Drivers Permit.

Experience Requirements: The necessary knowledge and skills are generally acquired through six (6) months of experience in community service, particularly with community-based or non-profit organizations, which provides familiarity with community resources and basic record-keeping practices.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Understanding of the challenges, needs, and behaviors of community residents;
  • Awareness of available community resources;
  • Proficiency in basic record-keeping.

  • Follow written and verbal instructions effectively;
  • Maintain accurate records;
  • Communicate clearly in English;
  • Build positive relationships with community members;
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
