Job Summary

The Cytotechnologist 1 plays a crucial role in the laboratory, responsible for screening gynecological cytology specimens and rendering an accurate diagnosis. This position requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to triage abnormal gynecologic cases to pathologists for further review.

Key Responsibilities
  • Completes screening and computer entry of diagnosis for gynecological and non-gynecological cases.
  • Participates in cytology department quality assurance and quality control programs.
  • Assists others in the laboratory as needed, contributing to a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Continues education and training to stay up-to-date on the latest laboratory protocols and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
  • Less than 1 year of experience in a related field.
  • ASCP-Cytologist (ASCP-CT) or Specialist in Cytology-ASCP (SCT) certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
