Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Specialty: Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) Level II or III

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Night - 12x- 06:00 PM - 06:00 AM

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours

Experience: Minimum of one year experience preferred

License: State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
  • Required

Certifications:

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification
  • Required
  • STABLE certification preferred

Must-Have:

  • Nursing skills and knowledge specific to NICU specialty
  • Ability to float to any approved location within sixty (60) miles or in identified float zone
  • Competency in therapeutic/diagnostic interventions

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interviews, and review of medical records and clinical data.
  • Evaluate patient responses and intervene to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate competency in a variety of interventions, including administration of IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection.
  • Promote and advocate for patient health and safety, ensuring their rights.
  • Provide patient and family education, assessing learning readiness and evaluating teaching effectiveness.
  • Deliver relationship-based care respecting cultural differences and individual preferences.
  • Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel per State Board of Nursing and hospital policy.
  • Utilize time, personnel, equipment, and supplies effectively for high-quality, cost-effective care.
  • Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating ethical and legal nursing practices.
  • Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with patient and unit needs.
  • Guide practice using standards of care, hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Function effectively within nursing and interprofessional teams to achieve quality patient care.
  • Precept and mentor new staff or nursing students as needed.
  • Seek learning opportunities and continuing education to maintain skills and competencies.
  • Maintain professional records to provide evidence of competency and lifelong learning.
  • Evaluate personal nursing practice in relation to professional standards and regulations.
  • Participate actively in hospital and unit-based meetings.
  • Use quality measures to improve performance and accountability for patient outcomes and safety.
  • Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities.
  • Use current healthcare research to expand clinical knowledge and enhance role performance.
