Maintenance Technician Job Description

The Maintenance Technician position at Nelson Partners Student Housing is a critical role that ensures the physical aspects of our properties meet our high standards for cleanliness, appearance, safety, and functionality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor on-site maintenance personnel to ensure seamless operations
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, plumbing, and electrical issues
  • Perform meticulous upkeep of grounds, amenities, building exteriors, and leasing offices
  • Assist in preparing market-ready units, including trash removal and cleaning
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor and Property Manager to complete assigned tasks promptly
  • Participate in monthly safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety-related laws
Requirements:
  • Minimum of one year's experience in a maintenance technician role
  • One year's experience with electrical, plumbing, and appliance repair
  • Multiple-level building structure experience preferred
  • Proven proficiency in all areas of maintenance operations
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • HVAC certification preferred or a minimum of in-depth knowledge of HVAC maintenance troubleshooting
  • CPO certification preferred or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire
  • Computer literacy preferred
  • Ability to travel/float between operation locations as dictated by business needs
  • On-call rotation and after-hours availability required
Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear
  • Frequently required to walk and sit
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
