National Training Coordinator for Ophthalmic Technicians

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated National Training Coordinator to oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive training program for ophthalmic technicians. This role is essential in establishing a structured curriculum that spans 12 months and includes three distinct tiers of training. The coordinator will also play a pivotal role in training front office personnel, ensuring a cohesive approach to staff development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute a detailed training program that encompasses:
- Tier I: Introductory training during the first six months, focusing on skill development and testing.
- Tier II: Development of ongoing training and annual assessments for technicians to retain Tier III certification.
- Tier III: Continuous education and annual evaluations to maintain Tier III certification.
- Conduct regular check-ins and assessments to support the GROW program.
- Collaborate with local educational institutions and industry partners to facilitate on-site training sessions.
- Assist in creating an online platform for tracking Continuing Medical Education (CME) and training opportunities.
- Implement a robust evaluation system to document competency and ensure training objectives are met.
- Continuously monitor and refine the training program to ensure quality and effectiveness.
- Contribute to the performance assessment of technicians and other staff through a structured evaluation process.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and instructional software.
- Experience in developing instructional materials and utilizing teaching platforms.
- Strong project management capabilities with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Highly organized with the ability to create timelines, budgets, and schedules.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
Education and Experience:
- Experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a clinical setting.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Nursing, or Health Care Administration is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of relevant training experience.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform various physical tasks including sitting, standing, bending, and lifting. Must possess the ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively.
Working Conditions:
Occasional travel to various locations may be required.
