Lead Cardiac Sonographer - Cardiology Associates
$15,000 Sign-on bonus for eligible new hires
Monday through Friday: 8am to 5pm
The Lead Cardiac Sonographer oversees the non-invasive cardiology unit, conducting diagnostic non-invasive cardiac assessments on patients utilizing ultrasound technology to analyze cardiac function. Testing methods include Transthoracic Echocardiography and Cardiac Stress Testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervises, organizes, and coordinates the tasks of the vascular department team. Assists sonographers in troubleshooting complex technical issues by providing guidance or demonstrating effective techniques.
- Ensures the department is staffed with qualified personnel. Conducts interviews, training, performance evaluations, and terminations in collaboration with the department manager and Human Resources.
- Develops, reviews, and implements departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and protocols. Establishes and maintains a Quality Assurance program in line with accreditation standards.
- Manages data entry for staff attendance, including creating the on-call schedule and making necessary adjustments in the timekeeping system.
- Performs all essential functions of a Registered Cardiac Sonographer.
- Exhibits behaviors aligned with the Mission and Values of Bon Secours Mercy Health and adheres to the standards and policies outlined by the Corporate Responsibility program, including compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and reporting any suspected unethical or unlawful practices.
- Follows all safety protocols, infection control measures, and patient confidentiality guidelines.
- Demonstrates proficiency in performing both non-invasive and invasive cardiac examinations.
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of cardiac anatomy, examination procedures, interpretation criteria, and the correlation of cardiac exam results with other hospital protocols.
Licensing/Certification
Credentialing in echocardiography by one of the following organizations is required at the time of hire: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must be obtained from an approved source prior to direct patient care) (required)
Education
Associate's degree in a health science field with a focus on cardiovascular technology, ultrasonography, or a related discipline (preferred)
Work Experience
Minimum of one year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer (required)
Preferred: Two years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer
Training
Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred)
Familiarity with Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) (preferred)
