Position Summary

We are in search of a Senior Tax Accountant with 3-5 years of experience in public accounting to operate from our Richmond office. The successful candidate will possess a robust background in tax preparation and planning, exemplary client service abilities, and the capability to independently oversee multiple projects. Key Responsibilities

Tax Preparation and Review:

  • Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, corporations, and partnerships.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of tax returns prepared by junior accountants.

Tax Planning and Advisory:

  • Develop tax planning strategies to assist clients in minimizing tax liabilities.
  • Advise clients on the tax implications of their business decisions.
  • Stay informed on tax law changes and communicate their effects to clients.

Client Management:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Act as the primary contact for client inquiries and concerns.
  • Communicate proactively and effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide suitable solutions.
  • Understand project profitability and effectively communicate status and issues.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Mentor and train junior accountants and interns, providing constructive feedback.
  • Delegate tasks efficiently and ensure high-quality work completion.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide regular feedback.

Operational and Technical Excellence:

  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines independently and efficiently.
  • Act as a champion in a specific technology area or specialized knowledge area.
  • Identify and resolve issues that may affect engagement quality or efficiency.
  • Share best practices and time-saving techniques with team members.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in public accounting, focusing on tax preparation and planning.
  • Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.
  • Proficient in Ultra Tax, QuickBooks (both desktop and online), Excel, AdvanceFlow, and GoFileRoom.
