Job Summary

Acadia Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Activity Therapist to join our team. As an Activity Therapist, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing activities that promote the physical and mental well-being of our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Activity Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement activity plans that meet the needs and interests of our patients, including therapeutic leisure skills and activities, leisure education, and leisure awareness.
  • Facilitation and Leadership: Facilitate and lead activity sessions to promote patient progress and achievement of treatment goals.
  • Instruction and Education: Instruct patients in activities and techniques, such as sports, dance, music, art, or relaxation techniques, designed to meet their specific needs.
  • Treatment Planning and Implementation: Develop treatment plans and implement activity interventions that meet patient needs and interests and help patients achieve their treatment goals.
  • Staff Supervision and Development: Direct and supervise activity staff in their implementation of the activity therapy program and services, if applicable.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy, or a related field is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Two or more years of experience in recreation in a healthcare setting with knowledge of the patient population served by the facility is required.
  • Certifications: CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification is required. First aid may be required based on state or facility.
