Assistant Store Manager Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Store Manager to join our team at Smart Foodservice Stores LLC. As an Assistant Store Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our store, providing exceptional customer service, and driving sales growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coach employees to deliver excellent customer service and achieve sales targets.
  • Address personnel and performance issues, including coaching, verbal and written warnings, and consult with Store Manager and HR on next steps.
  • Ensure compliance with personnel policies and procedures, and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Assist in the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) budgeting process, and manage shrinkage with a focus on front-end processes.
  • Participate in the annual inventory process, and train employees on required programs.
  • Provide day-to-day direction to employees, including schedules, store goals, and sales and shrinkage targets.
  • Plan in-store demonstrations, and ensure that demonstrations utilize strong suggestive selling techniques.
  • Assist in overseeing the receiving of product, return of damaged or expired product, and restocking of shelves.
  • Communicate with employees about merchandising and marketing programs, and assist in overseeing their execution.

Requirements:

  • A two-year college degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of four (4) years experience in a retail work environment, with at least two (2) years of management/supervisory experience.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to think quickly and critically.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and self-drive.
  • Strong communication and conversational skills, with the ability to negotiate and build professional relationships.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, late evenings, holidays, and weekends.
