As an LPN/MA at Grand Itasca, you will collaborate closely with healthcare providers to ensure high-quality patient care and service. JOB SUMMARY:
In accordance with the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act and/or Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), you will provide patient care while adhering to established nursing standards recognized by the Minnesota State Board of Nursing. Care will be delivered under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice nurse, physician, or physician assistant. In a float position, responsibilities will be equivalent, but specific duties will be directed by the healthcare team and unit to meet patient care needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conduct focused assessments by collecting and comparing data to identify normal findings and the patient's current health status. Report any changes to the appropriate licensed healthcare provider for ongoing management and delegation of care.
2. Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and modify the patient's health plan of care.
3. Implement patient care interventions as delegated, ordered, or prescribed by a licensed healthcare provider.
4. Assign nursing activities or tasks to other licensed practical nurses (LPNs).
5. Supervise nursing tasks or activities delegated to certified medical assistants or unlicensed personnel on the healthcare team.
6. Focus on patient care by providing safe and effective care, advocating for patients, assisting with evaluations, and collaborating with healthcare team members.
7. Provide healthcare information to patients and review educational materials.
8. Contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
9. Maintain accountability for the quality of care delivered, recognizing the limits of practice and competency, and performing to the expected level of education, knowledge, and skill.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Current LPN Minnesota state license or current Medical Assistant certification/registration required. Must maintain license/certification/registration.
2. Experience in an outpatient healthcare setting is preferred.
3. Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and maintain positive working relationships.
4. BLS certification to be completed within two months of employment.
5. Demonstrated ability to adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, vision, mission, and values.
6. Consistent and reliable attendance is essential.
