About the Role:
We offer a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced phlebotomist to work with our dynamic healthcare team in Olympia, WA. As a Phlebotomy Specialist, you will be responsible for performing phlebotomy services, waived tests, Automated CBCs, EKGs, Spirometry, and assisting in the diagnostic and treatment of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect blood specimens from patients using proper collection tubes for tests ordered.
- Verify test orders in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and communicate with providers and nurses for patient care.
- Maintain accurate and reliable test results and quality reports, following written policies and procedures.
- Restock reagents and request replacement supplies from referral labs as needed.
- Assist support personnel across various departments as requested, and work overtime hours as necessary.
EKG and Spirometry Duties:
- Prepares rooms for patients, applies electrodes, operates EKG machines, and identifies patients by name and DOB.
- Runs calibration of equipment every 24 hours or day of use, prepares patients, and reports accurate results to licensed providers.
Specimen Processing and Results Reporting:
- Processes specimens according to reference lab guidelines, tracks and reviews test results in EHR daily.
- Communicates with providers, clinic staff, and reference labs for smooth operation of the department.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Graduation from an accredited phlebotomy training program is required.
- X-ray training is required.
- A minimum of one year experience in a hospital or clinic setting is desired.
- CPR/BLS certification is required.
