Role Summary

As a Retail Sales Associate (RSA) for Animal Health International, you will engage with retail customers, promoting and selling animal vaccines, prescription medications, and health supplies/merchandise from our store or showroom. This role requires consistent communication with outside sales representatives, operations, and pharmacy, along with entering customer orders into SAP. Familiarity with animal health products is essential, as you will be expected to utilize upselling techniques when appropriate.

Customer Service Excellence:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service and sales support through phone and in-person interactions; address customer inquiries, provide solutions, and resolve issues promptly.
  • Process walk-in sales orders from initiation to completion; accurately select and prepare products.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with both new and returning customers.
  • Efficiently manage customer transactions in the order entry system, including invoicing, orders, quotes, and returns.
  • Understand and comply with Accounts Receivable policies and procedures.
  • Keep precise records of customer interactions, facility documentation, and regulatory compliance, ensuring adherence to Federal, State, and Local regulations.

Retail Area Management:

  • Ensure a welcoming retail environment by maintaining cleanliness and adequate stock levels. Rotate inventory as necessary and showcase seasonal and promotional items effectively.
  • Conduct quarterly inventory counts and organize materials in the retail space. Collaborate with local management to rectify any discrepancies.
  • Stay informed about company products and programs.
  • Manage cash drawer; process bank deposits.
  • Foster strong working relationships within the location; communicate actively with sales, operations, and pharmacy teams as needed.
  • Generate reports as required.
  • May undertake additional Retail Sales Associate responsibilities as assigned.
QualificationsRequired:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in retail, merchandising, customer service, or general office roles.
  • Knowledge of animal health products.
  • Exceptional customer service and organizational abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • General computer proficiency, including familiarity with MS Office.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred:
  • Bilingual (applicable in some locations).
  • Associate degree in Business and/or Animal Health, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in animal health/agriculture, such as working on a farm or ranch, and familiarity with cattle, swine, poultry, or equine.
  • Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Warehouse experience is a plus.
Working ConditionsPhysical Demands:
  • Occasional lifting or carrying of items up to 50 pounds.
  • Majority of the workday involves sitting or standing.
  • Frequent reading and visual tasks, requiring regular review of customer information.
  • Use of computers and other office equipment.
  • Frequent communication with customers and staff, necessitating the ability to convey and receive accurate information.
