Job Summary:

The Cross Connection Control Program is responsible for ensuring that proper backflow prevention assemblies are installed and maintained across businesses and residences to keep our water system safe. As a Cross Connection Control Technical Worker, you will be responsible for visiting businesses to schedule and conduct backflow hazard assessments, determining required backflow prevention measures, and delivering non-compliance notices to customers not meeting backflow prevention requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct backflow hazard assessments and determine required backflow prevention measures
  • Deliver non-compliance notices to customers not meeting backflow prevention requirements
  • Take photos of unprotected cross connections and document findings
  • Update backflow preventer data and upload photos to the online backflow tracking system
  • Set up appointments and manage your schedule efficiently
  • Communicate with the public and handle confrontational situations with professionalism and calmness
Requirements:
  • Comfortable interacting with the public and visiting various businesses
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Prepared to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
  • Proficiency with basic computer software for updating records and uploading photos
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Organizational skills and ability to take detailed, accurate notes while onsite
