Job Title: Composite Technician

LifePort, Inc. is seeking a skilled Composite Technician to join our team. As a Composite Technician, you will be responsible for bonding metallic or non-metallic materials to fabricate parts and/or for repair applications using products and processes which are varied but generally not complex in scope.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications, sketches, job orders, planning documents, and engineering drawings.
  • Understand equipment requirements and the method and sequences of operation to be followed in fabrication of parts using materials such as graphite, fiberglass, carbon fiber, plastic, epoxy resins, rubber, and like materials.
  • Lay out, fabricate, and build adhesive bonded assemblies of metallic and non-metallic composite materials.
  • Fabricate composite and metal parts into subassemblies for the purpose of pre-fitting in preparation for bonding, curing in press ovens, and autoclaves.
  • Prep, layup, vacuum bag, and cure various woven and non-woven composite materials in flat and molded shapes using prepreg, vacuum infusion, and/or wet layup methods.
  • Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on material to develop and trace patterns of product or parts, or use templates.
  • Cutting and trimming of composite parts per close tolerances using hand tools such as hand routers, hand drills, hand sanders, and inspection equipment.
  • Structural bonding, insert installation, and fastening of composite assemblies, including surface preparation.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2-5 years of composite layup experience preferred but not required.
  • Aerospace experience preferred.
