Role Overview:
The Secondary School Administrative Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our school's administrative functions. As a member of our team, you will provide administrative support to the Principal and other school personnel, manage various tasks, and ensure that all administrative duties are carried out efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage all communications between students, parents, school personnel, and other staff members.
  2. Compile and prepare documents, reports, and communications, including attendance records, state reports, office correspondence, purchase orders, honor rolls, etc.
  3. Maintain ledgers for activity accounts and other monies, receive, receipt, and deposit monies.
  4. Handle registrar's functions, including enrolling or transferring students, supervising the preparation and transmittal of transcripts, and other official documents relating to students.
  5. Perform other secretarial duties, such as calling buses, issuing bus passes, maintaining attendance logs of staff and substitutes, coordinating homework assignments for absent students, assisting in tornado and fire drills, and other duties as assigned.
Requirements: To be successful in this role, you must have:
  1. Exceptional communication skills (oral, written, or business) to exchange information, give/receive simple instructions, and respond to inquiries.
  2. A basic understanding of grammatical structure and vocabulary for preparing correspondence from rough draft or proofing completed material.
  3. The ability to communicate effectively on the phone in clear, grammatically correct English.
  4. Experience with data recording/record keeping operations, including computerized records.
  5. Basic mathematical skills to perform routine computations using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and/or percentages.
  6. The ability to read and interpret routine written or printed materials, such as charts, diagrams, maps, or instruction material.
  7. Experience with business machines, including photocopiers, microfiche readers, CRT/computers, calculators, and multi-line telephone consoles.
  8. The ability to maintain confidential files and establish/maintain filing systems.
  9. A positive attitude towards staff, students, and the public to enhance educational goals.
