Job Title: Suzuki Strings Instructor

We are seeking an accomplished Suzuki Strings Instructor to join our faculty at Uncommon Schools Rochester Prep. As a key member of our music program, you will be responsible for implementing Suzuki method instruction and activities to meet music-specific academic standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement Suzuki method instruction and activities to meet music-specific academic standards;
  • Develop music literacy lesson components related to teaching rhythm and pitch notation, solfege reading and singing, improvisation and composition;
  • Collaborate with Enrichment teachers and Director of Operations to create and plan for multiple performances throughout the school year;
  • Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards;
  • Support school instructional and cultural needs, including academic teaching coverage, test proctoring, daily systems duties, and additional supportive duties;
  • Participate in collaborative curriculum development, department activities, and school-wide functions;
  • Develop strong classroom management skills congruent with Uncommon Schools system of management;
  • Be accountable for students' mastery of musical standards;
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues;
  • Participate in an annual three-week staff orientation and training.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Music in Music, Music Education, or Performance;
  • Knowledge and experience with the Suzuki Method;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Valid State Certification is helpful but not required.

Uncommon Schools offers salaries commensurate with experience and a comprehensive benefits package. All staff members receive extensive professional development, and are equipped with a laptop computer and all necessary supplies.

The starting compensation for this role is between $50,000 - $64,700. The starting pay will depend on various factors, including relevant professional experience, education, certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools.
