Custodian I

Job Summary:

The Crossroads YMCA Inc is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian I to join our team. As a Custodian I, you will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our members and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure facilities are clean and sanitized by completing daily cleaning schedules and maintaining upkeep of assigned areas and equipment.
• Perform duties including mopping, cleaning and sanitizing restroom surfaces, dusting, trash removal, window washing, vacuuming, cleaning bases of exercise equipment, and seasonal activities such as snow removal and general cleaning.
• Assist with housekeeping laundry, refilling disinfectant bottles, and restocking closets.
• Perform tasks using motorized and non-motorized equipment.
• Ability to follow checklist complete tasks and ask for guidance as needed.
• Ability to work independently and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
• Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed.
• Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Minimum age 16 required.
• Six months or more of related experience preferred.
• Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid and New Employee Orientation.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Must be able to travel within Lake County to other Crossroad Branches.
• Must be able to work flexible schedule of nights, weekends, and holidays.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; occasionally stoop/bend.
• Ability to work with cleaning solvents and chemicals.

• Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.
• Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
