Respiratory Therapist II

Join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals at UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper as a Respiratory Therapist II. As a key member of our respiratory care team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

The Respiratory Therapist II will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized respiratory plans of care for patients. This will involve collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.

• Assess patients' respiratory status and develop individualized plans of care
• Administer and evaluate medication therapies, perform patient transfers, and transport patients via wheelchair, hospital bed, or stretcher to other departments
• Communicate individualized plans of care and patients' progress to all members of the care team, including patients and their support systems
• Document patient information in a timely and accurate manner
• Participate in the teaching and counseling of patients and their support systems

• Associate's Degree/Certificate required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Registered by National Board of Respiratory Care and current RCP licensure in applicable state required
• BLS required upon hire; ACLS, NRP, and PALS to be completed within 90 days of hire date
• CRT or RRT; VA State Licensure

The Respiratory Therapist II will be required to stand and walk constantly and frequently bend/stoop. Frequent repetitive body movements will be necessary. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills will be required. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. will be necessary. For any weight over 35 lbs., use of Safe Handling Equipment will be required.

May require the use of safety equipment, such as HEPA mask, for infection prevention. On call responsibilities as directed. Ability to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed.
